Category Icons Plugin allows you to add custom icons to classifieds categories created on your site. The images that you choose for category icons will help better highlight categories, visually present them and allow users to instantly spot the right category just by quickly glancing at the icon. A category icons Plugin is designed to streamline user navigation across multiple categories and make the browsing experience more convenient.
Front End
When a user wishes to browse through the available categories on your site, he will see the appropriate image icon next to every category (icon position relative to the category is configurable in back end). The Plugin will especially come in handy for classifieds sites with multiple categories and subcategories. Rather than read the name of each category or multiple subcategories, the user may now locate the right image, for instance a camera icon for camcorders and accessories or a jacket for clothes, click it and navigate to the right category.
Back End
Once installed, you may start adding category icons right from the ‘add a category’ section in back end. If you wish to further configure the Plugin to better suit your site needs, you may do so by navigating to the category icons manager which is added to the ‘basic settings’ section in back end.
To start configuring the Plugin, you may set the icon width and height in pixels, enable or disable the crop. You may also choose the icon position relative to the category name and place it either left or right from the category or on top or bottom. Once you have configured the Plugin in back end, you may proceed to adding the image icons to the categories on your site.
